Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Gangtok
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) and enjoy a scenic 4-5 hour drive to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure, perhaps exploring the vibrant M.G. Marg area
Day 2: Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion
After breakfast, take a full-day excursion to the oval-shaped Tsomgo Lake (at 12,400 ft) and the sacred Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. (An optional trip to the Nathu La Pass, the Indo-China border, is often available at an additional cost and requires a permit). Return to Gangtok in the evening.
Day 3: Gangtok Sightseeing & Kalimpong Transfer
Explore Gangtok’s cultural landmarks in the morning before a 2.5 to 3-hour drive (75 km) to Kalimpong.
Gangtok Highlights: Bakthang Waterfalls, Tashi Viewpoint (views of Mt. Kanchenjunga), and the Flower Show.
Romantic Activity: A cable car ride on the Gangtok Ropeway for a bird’s-eye view of the valley.
Day 4: Kalimpong Charm & Darjeeling Transfer
After morning sightseeing in Kalimpong, drive approx. 2.5 hours (51 km) to Darjeeling.
Kalimpong Highlights: Deolo Hill (the highest point in town with panoramic views), Pine View Nursery (featuring 1,500+ cactus species), and the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery.
Couple Spot: Durpin Dara Hill offers a secluded experience, perfect for watching the sunrise or sunset together.
Day 5: Iconic Darjeeling Experience
Tiger Hill Sunrise: Start at 4:00 AM to witness the sun rise over Mt. Kanchenjunga.
Local Classics: Visit the Batasia Loop (a spiral railway track with a war memorial) and Ghoom Monastery.
Full Day Tour: Explore the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed Thursdays), and the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (closed Sundays).
Romantic Highlight: Take an adventurous ride on the Rangeet Valley Ropeway or enjoy a peaceful walk through the Chitrey Tea Garden.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, depart for Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station (approx. 3-4 hours) for your onward journey
